چکیده

This paper proposes two ratio and product-type estimators using transformation based on known minimum and maximum values of auxiliary variable. The biases and mean squared errors of the suggested estimators are obtained under large sample approximation. Conditions are obtained under which the suggested estimators are superior to the conventional unbiased estimator, usual ratio and product estimators of population mean. The superiority of the proposed estimators are also established through some natural population data sets. MSC: 94A20

Comparison of Small Area Estimation Methods for Estimating Unemployment Rate

Extended Abstract. In recent years, needs for small area estimations have been greatly increased for large surveys particularly household surveys in Sta tistical Centre of Iran (SCI), because of the costs and respondent burden. The lack of suitable auxiliary variables between two decennial housing and popula tion census is a challenge for SCI in using these methods. In general, the...

Effect of Measurement Errors on a Class of Estimators of Population Mean Using Auxiliary Information in Sample Surveys

We consider the problem of estimation the population mean of the study variate Y in presence of measurement errors when information on an auxiliary character X is known. A class of estimators for population means using information on an auxiliary variate X is defined. Expressions for its asymptotic bias and mean square error are obtained. Optimum conditions are obtained for which the mean...

Ratio and Regression Methods of Estimation

4.1 INTRODUCTION In sampling theory the auxiliary information is being utilized in following ways:  Utilization of information at pre-selection stage i.e. for stratifying the population.  Utilization of information at selection stage i.e. in selecting the units with probabilities proportional to some suitable measure of size (size being based on some auxiliary variables).  Utilization of inf...

Comparison of Ratio Estimators with Two Auxiliary Variables

Many estimators of the population parameters are constructed using known auxiliary variables. The classical well known ratio estimator is one of them. Ratio estimators are frequently employed in sample surveys when estimating the population mean Y of a variate Y with the help of the known population means of a correlated auxiliary variables. Various improvements of this ratio estimator have bee...

Modified Ratio cum Product Estimator for Estimation of Finite Population Mean with Known Correlation Coefficient

In sampling theory, a wide variety of techniques is used to obtain efficient estimators for the population mean. The commonly used method to obtain the estimator for population mean is simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR) when there is no auxiliary variable available. There are methods that use the auxiliary information of the study characteristics. If there exists an auxiliary v...
